"Rylan made me feel like things were possible. Like I was possible, and he was possible, and we could be possible together."
Kinley is content tending her apple orchard, until a chance meeting with a childhood friend changes her priorities. Spending time with nobility is not socially acceptable, but Rylan rejects the norm. He pursues her with an easygoing charm, though she doesn’t dare hope that their relationship will be a reality.
When Kinley’s livelihood is threatened, any thoughts of a relationship are set aside as she’s thrust into Rylan’s world, where commoners and nobility don’t mix. The Rylan she encounters there is not the quirky and carefree friend she thought she knew. Can she trust what her heart has told her and believe in him, or will she be forced to accept that her dreams are only that—dreams?
Keeping Kinley Books of Dalthia Book 5 eBook Annette K Larsen
True to form, Annette has given us another sweet story driven by lovable, believable characters with spunk and wit. I always feel like I need to get back to hanging out with my new friends when I'm waiting to finish reading her books, and really would love to be friends with her characters.I love that the places in this book were brought to life clearly, they being almost characters in themselves, but without long, dragging descriptions. Kinley's orchard has its own charm, and you love reading the romance that unfolds there.
And of course I fell in love with the oh-so-charming Rylan, and with Rylan and Kinley together. Theirs is a sweet and funny romance with plenty of chemistry. And even more than in previous books, the secondary characters come to life and add another layer of depth and interest.
Annette's writing style is quick and easy to read, her descriptions and characterizations honest and human and spot on. The pacing never drags, as the characters drive the story along, pulling you and your heartstrings right along with them. I can't get enough of them.

Keeping Kinley Books of Dalthia Book 5 eBook Annette K Larsen Reviews
I love Ms. Larsen's books and have read several of them. Her characters are real with distinct and original personalities. The plots are detailed with surprising twists that make me want to read her books all in one sitting. I recommend all of her stories.
This book --Keeping Kinley is just as wonderful. All of her other characters from previous books are woven into this one and it is delightful to see where they are and how they have progressed. When Kinley and Rylan first meet they immediately become friends. Despite the fact that they are from two extremely different social circles they enjoy each other's company. Children can ignore society's structure. But when they meet as adults and still feel the happiness of being in each other's company complications arise.
But this does not keep Rylan from spending his free time with Kinley in her beloved orchard. Their friendship becomes something deeper and more exciting. But a tragic accident and a grave misunderstanding place doubts into Kinley's heart. Crossing social stations is frowned upon as well as persecuted. Can their love change and overcome that?
The journey that each character takes as they plunge into uncertainties and problems is real. Feelings are well-described and well-developed. Ms. Larsen does an exceptional job of leading the reader right along with Kinley and Rylan as they work through difficult challenges and unexpected danger. I loved this sweet and romantic but clean and inspiring book -- a strong five stars for an excellent read!!!
I've read all books in this series and loved them all equally and separately. This book started off cute and I liked Kinsley so much but then it turned into another typical romance about the lovers being mad over confusion and not getting the chance to talk etc and and then they finally talk (like adults should) and make amends. No character development like the other ladies in the series and no push for the lovers growing together through trials or hardships. It could have been so great! And then fell flat. Of all the books in the series sadly I won't be re reading this one. Still cute and fun dialogue. I really do like the characters! Story just fell flat half way through. I stayed up all night reading to see what happens and then it's just downhill from there. Just miscommunications? Just "Oh I couldnt tell you"? Seriously? Oh well. Still my favorite author, and I still recommend every other book in this aeries! Just not this one.
I find myself at a loss to describe exactly how I feel about this book so I'm sorry for the incoherencey ! I didn't love it I didn't hate it. I found it an above average read. Kinley was presented as not very attractive, which was nice, but then I felt that they somehow as the story progressed they prettied her up somehow & so she became less interesting to me.
Rylan, the love interest, was a bit too perfect, so was rather bland to me.
Some of the plot felt forced. I didn't totally buy into the being a servant for a short period of time then not being one for some years & then going back into servitude. The man with the reputation of being a "rake" who ended up being a safe person was weird too. I think that's the thing, I never really felt that Kinley was really truly in danger. She took so many risks that didn't really have dire consequences and it made her come across as charmed but rather stupid. It's a clean romance. It's nice that love prevails across social standing but does not guarantee a luxurious lifestyle. Something is missing to really sell this story, I'm just not sure what.
This was the first book I’ve read by Annette K Larsen, but it won’t be the last.
Keeping Kinley swept me along in Larsen’s story world. I felt as if I experienced the story firsthand. Everything was just right. Just the right amount of description and angst and duty and family and farm animals. I was heartbroken over the burnt orchard, and I was cheering for Kinley through each of her struggles. Her desire to learn to read impressed me as did her work ethic. I loved that Rylan made her a priority and that they were truly good friends from the start. It is a universal truth that we are often influenced by the smallest of things, and Rylan and Kinley’s childhood encounter surely challenged and changed each of them in different ways.
A delightful read from start to finish, and I read it in one sitting. When it was over, I wanted more. How refreshing to have such a clean read about interesting people. It was truly heartwarming and renewed my faith in human nature.
I received a copy of this book through the Scout program.
